At a press conference hosted by TASS, the creators of this patriotic stage production, director Galina Vlasenok, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, and composer and conductor Pavel Ovsyannikov, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, shared the inspiration behind the performance.
“The flight of Yuri Gagarin into space is a grand event of global significance,” said Pavel Ovsyannikov. “What motivated us to create this work was a street poll conducted among Moscow youth. When asked who Yuri Gagarin was, half of the respondents said he was a relative of Polina Gagarina. A wonderful singer, of course, but it's sad to see such a lack of awareness about a great historical achievement.”
Galina Vlasenok expressed gratitude to the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics for its boldness, as staging the performance within its walls requires accommodating 200 performers, a large technical crew, and an audience.
Onward to the Stars! will launch on April 13 at 8:00 PM in the Grand Atrium of the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics. If you weren’t able to get a free ticket, you can still watch the livestream on the platforms of our partners: the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics and TRK “Nika.”
