Press Conference Dedicated to the Opening of the VI Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival

On April 12, a press conference marking the opening of the VI Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival was held in the conference hall of the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky, the festival’s main venue.

Program directors Igor Prokopenko (documentary films) and Irina Soshnikova (feature films and animation), along with the festival president Igor Ugolnikov, the director of the Museum of the History of Cosmonautics and chair of the festival jury Natalia Abakumova, and curator of the retrospective program Nikolay Mayorov, shared with attendees what the festival has in store for its guests this year.

Composer and conductor, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Pavel Ovsyannikov invited all guests and Kaluga residents to the festival’s main musical event: the heroic epic Forward to the Stars!, which will take place on April 13 in the Grand Atrium of the Museum.
During the press conference, Yuri Rastorguev, head of the Kaluga regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia, and Alexey Urusov, editor-in-chief of AiF-Kaluga and member of the Union, presented two unique photographs of Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, People’s Artist of the USSR Yevgeny Leonov to the museum director and jury chair Natalia Abakumova and to the festival president, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Ugolnikov.

The photos capture Yevgeny Leonov during a tour of the Museum of the History of Cosmonautics. Taken by photographer Ekaterina Lysenko, the photos are part of the collection of Oleg Zagranichny, host of the oral journal Youth. These photographs, featuring the actor’s original autograph, have become a true rarity in Kaluga and were acquired at a private auction.

Natalia Abakumova and Igor Ugolnikov also received copies of Alexey Urusov’s book Secrets of Old Kaluga: Stories Behind the Scenes, dedicated to the filming of Soviet movies, including famous space-themed films.
