SPACE. STARS. OPINIONS. Eugeny SHCHEDRIN

Eugeny Shchedrin, playwright, producer, member of the Tsiolkovsky International Film Festival jury, gives an interview for the "SPACE. STARS. OPINIONS" festival section and speaks about a man ahead of time and the intrigue of contacting extraterrestrial intelligence.

"I never dreamt of becoming a cosmonaut. I knew for sure that I would not pass the selection. I was a frail boy. My personal profile is not so perfect either... At that time, candidates for space travels were carefully selected!"

"For me, Tsiolkovsky is a tragic figure unrecognized by his contemporaries who just did not comprehend his ideas. He was a man ahead of his time. It sounds corny, but let’s try to think about the conditions in which we worked on interplanetary flights! It’s a rhetorical question!"

"I'm not an actor. I know for sure that acting is hard work for professionals only. Nevertheless, it would be interesting for me to come up with a film about people in such circumstances as space, new worlds, perhaps even contact with extraterrestrial intelligence..."

The Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival will be held in Kaluga on April 12-16, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Roscosmos State Corporation, the Kaluga Region Government and the Ministry of Culture, Rossotrudnichestvo, the K.E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, the Association of Planetariums of Russia and other public and commercial organizations.
