Participants of the competition programmes of the Tsiolkovsky International Film Festival have been selected!

The selection committee of The Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival has completed its work.  Since September 2021, more than two thousand applications have been received, mainly through festival platforms, and viewed. Clearly, as in previous years, it was impossible to include all the submitted projects into the programme. The choice was as difficult as ever, but it was made. The festival programme will include 80 films – full-length, animated, short films, documentaries from 26 countries of the world!

In addition to competitive screenings, we will also present a full-dome cinema programme, a programme of documentaries by the Roscosmos Studio, lectures, master classes and creative meetings with cosmonauts, cinematographers, scientists, representatives of the space industry, as well the retrospective program dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the founder of theoretical cosmonautics Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, the 115th anniversary of the chief designer of rocket technology of the USSR Sergey Pavlovich Korolev and the 90th anniversary of famous film director Andrei Tarkovsky.

Igor Ugolnikov, President of the Tsiolkovsky International Film Festival says: "When reviewing the submitted applications, we, giving priority to assessing the artistic qualities of the works, also took many factors into account – compliance with the theme of the festival, possibility to combine films into sessions (this mostly applies to short films and animated works) so that viewers of different ages and with different interests could choose the most suitable one for them. To our deep regret, the festival programme could not accept all the noteworthy projects, but those that were included, in our opinion, will be of interest to all fans of "space" cinema."

The Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival, first organized by a team of enthusiasts on the initiative of Igor Ugolnikov in 2020, will be held for the 3rd time in Kaluga from April 12 to 16, 2022. The main festival events and film screenings will traditionally take place at the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics and the Kaluga Innovative Cultural Center. In addition, the House of Music, Pro Arts contemporary art space, the Tsentralny cinema hall and the scientific library named after V.G. Belinsky are planned to become our festival venues, part of the screenings will take place in cinemas in the cities of the Kaluga region.

The Tsiolkovsky International Film Festival will be held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, State Space Corporation ROSCOSMOS, the Government of the Kaluga Region, the Administration of the City of Kaluga, commercial and public organizations.
