Igor Ugolnikov Took to the Ice as Part of a Hockey Team

On January 16, a grand sports celebration took place on Red Square in honor of the Old Orthodox New Year. The event was directed by Gediminas Taranda, an Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation. Festivities included traditional Christmas carols and rituals, singing and dancing, winter games, and a performance by Ilya Averbukh's figure skating school, all leading up to the day's main event—a friendly hockey match between the teams of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant’s Service and the Kaluga Region.

Joining the regional team alongside the region’s Deputy Governor Vladimir Popov, Kaluga Minister of Sports Oleg Serdyukov, and other well-known and talented representatives of Kaluga were People’s Artists of Russia Igor Ugolnikov and Askold Zapashny, as well as Honored Master of Sports of Russia Ilya Averbukh.

The game, held at the GUM Skating Rink, ended with a 2:1 victory for the Kremlin team, but all participants were pleased with the match.

Following the energetic competition on the ice, a public skating session began, where visitors had the chance to take part in a quiz. The Kaluga Region provided gift certificates as prizes. As the General Director of the VoenFilm studio and President of the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival, Igor Ugolnikov awarded winners with certificates for a free tour of the VoenFilm Studio complex in Medyn and access to all events of the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival.

The Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival is held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
