Igor Ugolnikov visits Roscosmos Media

First-hand news about the Tsiolkovsky Film Festival!

On February 27, 2023, Igor Ugolnikov, President of the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival, visited the Roscosmos Media studio and shared what novelties and special surprises are planned during the IV International Film Festival.

"Cinema and space are the very fantasy that exists within us, the one which we strive for. This is the very «magic», which here, across the ocean, we call a "chudo" (Eng. «miracle»). Sometimes, it's hard to believe what is happening on the screen or what is happening outside the Earth. When we watch movies or think about space, we turn into children. This is the best part of it," said the ISFF President.

So, what do we expect from the festival?

• The opening of the film festival is dedicated to the 45th anniversary of international cooperation in space activities.

• "Apollo – Soyuz. Force of Attraction", the opening film of the festival, will be presented by producer Andrey Feofanov.

• "Challenge", the much-anticipated creation of director Klim Shipenko, is planned to become the closing film.

• A live broadcast of the ISFF closing ceremony will be on the Roscosmos Media channel.

• The audience's favorites, Nonna Grishaeva and Alexander Oleshko, will be the hosts of the festive ceremonies.

• Screenings this year will be not only in the daytime, but also in the evening.

• The Film Festival fully confirms its international status: films from 18 countries of the world, including China, Mongolia, India, will take part in the competition.

• Leonid Yakubovich, a famous TV presenter, is to give a lecture on "Aeronautics".

• All the "Tsiolkovsky" films are family-friendly.

"April, 14 will be fully dedicated to the Roscosmos State Corporation. The head of the State Corporation will speak to the students. I’m hoping to hold three episodes of the "Good Evening, Universe!" program, which we approved last year, together" Igor Ugolnikov revealed some secrets of the film festival.

One of the main objectives of the event, according to Igor Ugolnikov, is to attract visitors to the Museum of Cosmonautics in Kaluga and popularize the topic of space in general.

Fun fact: Igor Ugolnikov called the "The Secret of the Third Planet" cartoon (which turned 40 years old last year) his favorite children’s film about space.
