The First Awards of the VI Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival Were Presented at the Closing Press Conference

On April 16, ahead of the official closing ceremony of the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival, the traditional press conference was held with members of the jury in attendance:

Natalia Abakumova (Russia)
Permanent Chair of the Jury, Director of the festival’s main venue, the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky, First Vice President of the All-Russian Public Organization "Association of Cosmonautics Museums of Russia" (AMKOS), and a member of the Public Council of the State Corporation "Roscosmos."

Alexey Ryazantsev (Russia)
Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation, Distinguished Filmmaker of Russia, Honorary Professor at the State Saint Petersburg Institute of Film and Television, member of the Union of Cinematographers, producer, screenwriter, voice actor (known for dubbing Professor Snape in Harry Potter and Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings), President of the film distribution company "Karo Premier."

Yuri Poteyenko (Russia)
Composer, arranger, choral conductor, music educator, and actor. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

Almas Alimzhanov (Kazakhstan)
Producer, film director, Director of DOSFILM LLP.

Eugene Shchedrin (Russia)
Playwright and producer. Member of the Union of Cinematographers, Union of Theater Workers, and Union of Writers of Russia.

Maria Sergeenkova (Russia)
Film editor, director, screenwriter, creative producer, and member of the Union of Cinematographers.

Anatoly Belozerov (Russia)
Sound engineer, member of the Union of Cinematographers.

Andrey Babkin (Russia)
Deputy Commander of the Scientific and Experimental Cosmonaut Team, PhD, test cosmonaut.

Sergey Prokopyev (Russia)
Hero of the Russian Federation, pilot-cosmonaut of Russia.
Two films received the award from the Guild of Film Scholars and Critics of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia and the Tsiolkovsky family: the short documentary Mars Is Waiting for Us by director Zakhar Reshetnik and the short fiction film Bandits and Love on Mars by directors Daniil Podgorny and Igor Prokopenko. The diplomas and prizes were presented by Vice President of the Guild, film scholar, and curator of the Tsiolkovsky Festival’s retrospective program Nikolai Mayorov, and by Sergey Samburov, great-grandson of Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky and leading specialist in cosmonaut activity planning at RSC Energia named after S. P. Korolev.
The next award winner was chosen by journalists who closely followed the competition films. According to voting results in a closed Telegram channel, the full-length documentary Space. The Battlefield of a Nuclear War by director Sergey Kozhevnikov received the most votes. A special award commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Baikonur Cosmodrome was presented to the film’s screenwriter Anna Kolodezneva by writer and editor-in-chief of AiF-Kaluga Alexey Urusov, whose book Secrets of Old Kaluga: Stories Behind the Scenes was also gifted to each festival winner.
Hero of Russia and pilot-cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev awarded a special jury diploma to Vladislav Doroshev, director of the short documentary Find the Fallen Star .

Maria Sergeenkova highlighted two animated films: the German short I'm Glitchy by director Salma Parra and the Italian animation Spark by Alfonso Annarumma and Arcangelo Gabriele. She suggested waiting until the official closing ceremony to find out which would win.
Jury chair Natalia Abakumova noted that one of the festival’s key features each year is the selection of full-dome films. When asked whether there were any films that all jury members unanimously voted for, she revealed that one such film would receive the festival’s Grand Prix "Tsiolkovsky."

Following the press conference, the closing ceremony of the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival was held in the Rocket Hall of the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, where the winners in all categories were announced.
The Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival is held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Government and Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Kaluga Region. Festival partners include State Corporation "Roscosmos," Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Research Institute, the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, the Kaluga regional branch of the All-Russian public movement “Cultural Volunteers,” and other public and commercial organizations.
