On May 28, the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center hosted a screening of the documentary Embracing the World.
The film about Yuri Gagarin was first presented at the V Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival, where it won the award from State Corporation Roscosmos. Released in 2024 to mark the 90th anniversary of Gagarin’s birth, the documentary highlights the significance of his legacy and historic spaceflight, which united the world.
At the heart of the film is archival footage from Gagarin’s world tour following his pioneering space mission, featuring his voice in speeches, interviews with cosmonauts, and reflections from people across different countries and continents. The documentary includes recollections from Boris Volynov, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and a cosmonaut from the legendary first group, as well as Aleksandr Alexandrov, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and Soviet cosmonaut. Additionally, it features interviews with Russian cosmonauts and Heroes of Russia Oleg Artemyev and Andrey Fedyayev, along with contributions from Maxim Kharlamov, head of the Cosmonaut Training Center, and Natalia Talanova, director of the center’s museum.
The screening for cosmonauts and staff of the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center was introduced by the film’s creative team: director Anna Filippova and producers Olga Rodionova and Natalia Burtseva.
Anna Filippova emphasized that Gagarin is still remembered and honored worldwide, with his legacy immortalized in sculptures - a theme reflected in Embracing the World.
