In April, Kaluga will host the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival. As per tradition, the festival’s main venue will be the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics named after K. Tsiolkovsky. Festival events and film screenings will also take place at the Kaluga Innovative Culture Center (ICC), the House of Folk Art and Cinema "Central," and the Kaluga Regional Scientific Library named after V. G. Belinsky.
Currently, the organizers are actively preparing for this large-scale event. A key stage of the preparation process, the meticulous work of the selection committee, has recently concluded. Out of 2,200 submissions, 100 films have been selected for the competition programs in various categories.
From April 12 to 16, residents of Kaluga and visitors to the city will have the opportunity to watch feature films, documentaries, animated works, and full-dome films from 25 countries, including:
Russia, Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, China, Germany, Israel, India, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, Nigeria, Netherlands, Republic of Korea, USA, Turkey, Uruguay, France, Montenegro, Czech Republic, South Africa.
"Every year, when we open submissions, we worry that the rampant anti-Russian hysteria might affect our festival, but it never does. Filmmakers from all over the world continue to show a keen interest in presenting their works to a Russian audience and participating in our unique space film festival. And we welcome them! We are glad that, despite the efforts of unfriendly politicians, cultural ties remain unbroken, and our festival continues to be truly international," said Igor Ugolnikov, People's Artist of Russia and president of the Tsiolkovsky International Space Film Festival.
The full festival program will be published on the official website space-fest.ru in mid-March, while registration for screenings, meetings, masterclasses, and other exciting events will open a couple of weeks before the festival starts. More details about the participating films and exclusive festival events can be found on the festival’s VKontakte page and Telegram channel "МКФ Циолковский" [Rus. MKF Tsiolkovsky].
